Cowork University is a cultivated community of cowork managers and creators that represent multiple countries and coworking spaces averaging 100+ members. We are an exclusive group, and our members must meet specific criteria to participate.
Our members are consistently engaged by way of a 24/7, online, community platform, and we host a monthly virtual session that our community raves about! This community is thriving because (surprisingly) cowork managers rarely connect across coworks/communities! Cowork University is a unique space for creating camaraderie, innovation, and efficiency through shared experience.
The purpose of this meetup is to create a laser-focused conversation and high-value networking opportunity for like-minded cowork creators and managers.
The Cowork University Virtual Meetup is a dynamic, informal, facilitated discussion of topics that come up when starting or running a coworking space, like:
- Gauging community health
- Gaining new members
- Promotion and outreach
- Forming partnerships
- Anything you’d like to bring to the conversation!
It is currently free to join the group:)
The only requirement is that you must apply to become a member (see application process below) and be fully committed to participating on a regular basis.
The format of the virtual meetup is an open, video chat session where members discuss the challenges of owning and operating coworking spaces.
We connect on a monthly Zoom video chat and a 24/7 private Slack channel.
An International Group of Coworking Managers and Creators
What do the members say?
“I was a little dubious about having so many people in one conversation online but it worked really well! I really enjoyed it! It is great to connect with like-minded people who understand the ins and outs of managing a coworking space.”
“I have to tell you that it was such a GREAT experience being on the call. I do not think I realized that I had missed being part of something “bigger” than what we have going on here.”
“This is a great group! I’m going to be honest with you, when I was getting ready to log on I thought to myself, “this is going to be a waste of my time.” Boy, was I wrong! This was very helpful to have an open forum of coworking owners to bounce ideas off of and learn from each other. I agree with Tamara that the open forum is good. I liked the fact that you had a couple of topics to discuss which lead into great discussions and insight.”
Building Collaboration Across Coworks (and Around the Globe)
Throughout my travels in the US and abroad, I’ve had many conversations with cowork managers and creators. Consistently, we agree that it’s pretty ironic that, as people who promote collaboration on a daily basis, we don’t have many opportunities to support one another. As one manager said to me…”actually building my community has been a confusing, time consuming, and lonely process – something you’d never expect, right?!“
People like us who are driven to create collaborative workspaces are all about building connections, but WHO do WE collaborate with and HOW? The answer is the Cowork University Virtual Meetup!
The Main Event:
Monthly Virtual Meetups
The meetup is a group video chat that is outlined and mediated by Chris Cooley (The Cowork Consultant), and every participant has 1 minute to explain; 1) Who you are, 2) Your coworking role, and 3) Why you got into coworking.
The format is a “popcorn” style conversation where any member can announce a topic they’d like feedback on. The group then answers the topics based on their experience and resources. It’s an opportunity to tap into the power of community and leverage the collective experience of cowork leaders worldwide. This is designed as a safe space to share ideas, failures and resources with other like-minded people.
Totally rad, right?!:)
Want to participate? Here’s how…
Email Chris Cooley:
Send Chris a message to let him know your interested in joining. Pretty easy, right:)?!
You’ll get an email back to set up a time to connect for a call or Skype with Chris.
When you are approved, you’ll be invited to our Slack channel and virtual meetup.
Participation is Limited:
This meetup is ONLY open to managers and creators who put a focus on community and PEOPLE first (you all know what I’m talking about:)).
Sharing & Trust:
It’s VERY important to this group that we maintain a level of trust and are safe to share ideas. If you’re interested in participating, please email me directly to set up a call so that you and I can have a 1-on-1 conversation.
I’ll be personally talking to any interested party before the event so we can all be assured the people involved are aligned with the community mindset.
Please let me know if you have questions, and I’ll look forward to hearing from many of you soon:)
